This catalog depicts the hauntingly powerful exhibition, "Reckoning With 'The Incident': John Wilson’s Studies for a Lynching Mural" -- a timely exhibition that asked viewers to consider ongoing and urgent issues around racial justice and social equality in America, as it traveled to four different colleges across the country. Featuring twenty-three preparatory sketches, prints, and paintings created by John Wilson (1922-2015), the exhibition toured to Faulconer Gallery in Grinnell College, the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, the Clark Atlanta University Art Museum, and the Yale University Art Gallery. This catalog memorializes that impact with illustations of Wilson’s preparatory sketches, painted studies, drawings and prints related to the mural.
